Negative consequences for fails/epic fails
As I played my first game, my self and the other players noticed that there wasn't options for consequences for negative rolls. i.e. I tried to use the skill that would let me immobilize a creature. If I fail that, then the GM should be able to immobilize my character, as if I accidentally threw the net on myself. That's just one example, but I'm sure their are plenty of other applications. negative consequences lead to more fun in the game. There should also be a negative consequence, such as less dice on my next turn for a miscast. Jusat my thoughts

BotDoesTheThingFully agree with this - I think a standard fail is fair if it just "doesn't work", like a spell for example, but for something like an epic fail you should hurt yourself or put yourself at a significant disadvantage, especially in combat. GMs can make out-of-combat disadvantages work fairly easily on an epic fail, but in combat there should be a tangible outcome we can "feel" was bad...

Taylor Guest MergedHave abilities (most? some? all? up for debate) have some secondary benefit on a failure. With the dice mechanic as is, especially at low levels, getting failures is very easy. And thanks to the Dice Gods, it can feel especially punitive to a particular player.
Doesn't have to be doing damage anyways. Just some thematically appropriate upside for trying. Attacks that add block might add a smaller amount of block on failure. Fireball not going off might give you a fire aura at the start of next turn. Your leap attack might turn into just "a leap". Mass heal didn't go off, but maybe it gives everyone in the area 1 block.
Could even add risk/reward abilities. SUPER powerful, but on failure they produce a NEGATIVE effect. Is it worth the chance to take out the BBEG if you MIGHT just set yourself on fire? -

Stockweaver Admin MergedHey there! Although this ticket is technically different from the one I'm about to merge this into, they're similar in that the team will discuss the whole idea of "dice roll outcomes and secondary benefits / consequences for those outcomes". We'll be sure to bring it to the table!
