Homebrew Skills and Classes
The ability to homebrew skills and classes, while understandably a tough request to fulfill, would add a lot to the game. Pop-Up Dungeon had a very good (albeit somewhat complex) system for making custom abilities. Something similar but simpler could be applied here, with a preset library of effects to modify and choose from, stats to tinker with and modifiers to choose from. Homebrew skills and classes would be impossible to balance official, so it’d definitely be up to the players/creators themselves along with their GMs when making and allowing such content, but it would give a great deal of freedom to both in telling the stories and creating their characters.

Oooo this is a tough request, but also would be exceptionally cool. Likely a later-in-life project for the game. I'll mark it under consideration for now, though! The notion of a downscoped version like you suggest could also be very cool. -
