No subscriptions
I heard and read from the discussion on Steam that you are planning to have a subscription model for homebrew options to this game.
Hear me out. Subscriptions often alienate people because they don't have the means to do so, this happens with a lot of subscription business model other apps and websites have which only accept credit card as their payment methods. People outside of the US — as far as I know, don't like to have credit cards if not absolutely necessary, including me.
I'd much rather pay $30-$50 up front and get access to the game rather than the game has any subscription fee down the line.
TL;DR Yes to flat fee payment, no to subscriptions.

Heck, I'd much rather pay $120+ for homebrew access than to pay a subscription model. My group of players would've wanted to chime in to pay for that too. -

Joey Admin PinnedHey Jenn! Thanks for the feedback. I need to clarify things! (I also dug up that Steam forum post and edited my comment there since it wasn't clear enough.)
We won't lock adventures, cosmetics, or homebrew access behind a subscription. Adventures and cosmetics will be one-time purchases, and homebrew will be free from day one.
The subscription is for GMs and players who want more homebrew storage space, as server storage is tied to cloud capacity. We have to limit how much people upload as lots of giant files spread across servers can get pricey. That's not to say that we'll never give these folks some goodies to thank them for their ongoing support, but they won't have exclusive access to adventure content.
As for this post: I don't want to take it down! I will mark it "Not Planned" for now since we don't plan to lock adventures behind subscriptions. That doesn't mean that this conversation is over; I just want to ensure this ticket goes to the right place on our team. -

JennThank you for the clarification, Joey. Appreciate it so much! I got it now, it's rather similar to Owlbear Rodeo perhaps as I understand it? They also have plans to expand our storage space using subscriptions.
